For maximum interoperability, Nuvoiz selected today's standard for Internet Protocol (IP) voice, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF)-approved standard for presence and chat, the Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP), as implemented by market leader Jabber.
Jabber’s presence server provides a multi-protocol messaging layer that enables a more unified and collaborative style of communications for Nuvoiz customers. For example, users can indicate to their contacts in real time if they are currently on a call by simply changing their status to "busy" or "appear offline." When ready to receive calls, status can be changed easily to "online." During instant messaging (IM) sessions, click-to-call is readily available at any time.
The result is satisfied customers effectively using Nuvoiz branded softphones as their primary point of communications and presence management.
