The Jabber Extensible Communications Platform™ (Jabber XCP™) is an authoritative, carrier-grade, real-time, extensible markup language (XML) router and presence server that powers the services of some of the world’s leading telecommunications companies and Internet Service Providers (ISPs)—including BellSouth and SAPO.
Extensible and interoperable, Jabber XCP natively supports a wide range of standards-based protocols and communication transports. Using a unique and powerful XML-based protocol abstraction framework, Jabber XCP collects the presence status from any source for management and distribution across a diverse service ecosystem of people, devices, and applications. This presence information provides the basis for delivering real-time communication, content, and entertainment services that drive subscriber and revenue growth. For communication service providers, Jabber XCP enables new business opportunities in the following areas:
- Applications. Jabber, Inc. presence-driven applications integrate instant messaging (IM), email, address books, push to talk (PTT), voice, and video to enhance the user experience and promote the frequency of interpersonal communications.
- Communities. Build and expand highly interactive, operator-controlled communities powered by presence-enabled contact lists with Jabber XCP. Providers can increase the appeal and value of their community by establishing service interoperability across landline, wireless, and ISP communities. Or use viral marketing and social networking to exponentially grow communications traffic and associated revenue within and across service provider networks.
- Content Distribution. Jabber XCP simplifies the exchange of rich user information and rich media so that end users’ online experiences become more involved and useful. InfoBroker is a publish-and-subscribe (pub/sub) tool from Jabber, Inc. that delivers relevant real-time information to subscribers based on the context of their presence and availability. Telecommunications providers vying for a competitive edge can use InfoBroker to distribute content (e.g., music, blogs, advertising, online auctions, news, sports, and alerts) at the most appropriate time, place, and method as defined by their subscriber’s preferences.
- Networks. No other presence application server has demonstrated the capacity to bridge wireless and wireline networks and services as well as the Jabber XCP solution. Jabber XCP utilizes presence/availability data from core network infrastructures (e.g., Home Location Register (HLR), Mobile Switching Center (MSC)) to capture specific network triggers indicating whether a subscriber’s phone is switched on/off, inactive, or in use.
- Infrastructure. Jabber XCP is a best-of-breed presence application server that supports the emerging IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) model for shared network services. It also provides interfaces and application program interfaces (APIs) for integrating presence-based services with core operational support systems such as billing, subscriber provisioning, and network management.
- Devices. Jabber, Inc. technologies support a diverse range of presence-enabled devices, including desktop computers, fixed and mobile phones (e.g., Blackberry), home network gateways, set-top boxes, and telemetry devices.
