- What does Jabber, Inc. do?
- Jabber, Inc. develops and markets flexible, extensible, scalable, and secure presence-powered, real-time
messaging solutions, including enterprise
instant messaging (EIM) software for the enterprise, government, communications / service providers, and financial
services markets. Its flagship product, the Jabber
Extensible Communications Platform™ (Jabber XCP™), is based on the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF)-approved Extensible
Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP).
- What is EIM?
- The differences between consumer instant messaging (IM) and enterprise instant messaging (EIM) resemble those
between a consumer email service, such as
Hotmail, and an enterprise email service such as Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Notes. Just as no business entrusts
its corporate email to Hotmail, the same is
true of consumer-grade IM. In contrast to consumer IM, secure EIM products such as Jabber XCP are wholly the property of the enterprise and wholly under the control of the
enterprise’s information technology (IT) infrastructure. Additionally, EIM solutions offer message archiving
features, critical for financial services
and healthcare firms who must comply with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
regulations.
As IM matures and becomes more widely accepted, organizations are looking for a way to utilize the benefits of IM
technology without risking corporate data
or corporate liability exposure on consumer IM networks. EIM solutions, such as Jabber XCP, allow organizations to offer highly secure and highly
available IM
services to their user, partner, and customer communities.
- What is presence? What is the value of presence?
- In its simplest form, presence is the availability of any person, application, or device to exchange
information with any other person, application, or
device. Extended presence is comprised of contextual attributes that change over time and may convey geographic
location (geo-location), differing levels of
availability, capability, role, even mood. Presence as an attribute is the core enabler of real-time architecture
as it ensures the most efficient flow of
information based on the availability and status of the right people, applications, and devices to receive new
information in real time.
- What products does Jabber, Inc. offer?
- Jabber, Inc.'s core product Jabber XCP, is a presence, messaging, and
